WHAT THIS FILM IS ABOUT

It is well past time for the trucking industry to experience true maturation.

The current economic chaos is global and has turned into a colossal stagnation of cash flow. This statement as well as the following several paragraphs were written in 2009. We believe that history and current economic conditions confirm our position as stated.

Europeans are in a conundrum because the Euro is ineffective with minimal performance exports and too much dependence on imports. The Russians and Africans have minimal exports and no money with which to import. South America, Australia and Japan seem to be more self-reliant and while they may not suffer like others, we cannot look to them to provide any particular contributions to global economic growth. Most Asian countries are riding a seesaw and will soon be joined by the Arab nations, already on the brink of understanding that they cannot eat or wear oil. China sits in fat-cash city, but with greatly diminished exports. The cash that they have is rapidly becoming less valuable as the goods and services they would otherwise import are not available and what is available does not compliment their culture. The USA, while deep in debt and reliant on imports, is the only country with the remaining infrastructure to rebuild some of its manufacturing capabilities. We have the means to pull ourselves back into self-sustenance and over supply.  This is evidenced by the fact that in 2013 and early 2014 a handful of American based entities have announced plans to bring manufacturing back to the continential United States.

The backbone of this capability is our transportation industry. Fast, efficient and reliable transportation of commodities is what made this country great. Those attributes will be the platform of our rebuilding and the eventual return to global economic leadership.

America runs because trucks do. The American economy and the way of life that the rest of the world envies, exists because of one undeniable component, our transportation system. Our unique movement of commodities has enabled unparalleled growth and development.

America runs because trucks do...

But, sometimes they do not run on time.

While the richness of our lifestyle relies on legions of trucks, trucks do not run on their own. The problem is, while hard-working and often abused truckers know this, our friends and neighbors and the people we serve, have little understanding of the American trucking industry and the good men and women who are the very soul of our economy.

Our documentary movie, “Long-Haul Trucker,” is the over due, in your face, wake up call America needs. As the country moves forward, reliance on the trucking industry and truckers particularly, will be ramping up. It is high time that appreciation for truckers is ramped up too!

America runs because trucks do...

Sometimes you can arrive at the receiver early and after waiting in line for hours, you are late!

The truth is, that as demands and conditions change, without taking care of truckers, the trucks they drive will be worthless. Anticipated changes in the way America does business has to include change for truckers.

“Long-Haul Trucker,” is a forum for truckers to let their neighbors, employers and the American community know how they feel and why.

Can we get truckers to respect each other again? Can we show the American people that truckers are proud, confident, dependable professionals and that they deserve to be treated as such?

Sometimes sensible rules get in the way of sensible operations…

We believe we can. However, it will take a huge effort with help from the trucking community. In order to produce this documentary without the slightest hint of bias or potentially questionable influence from any corner, we have to avoid financial association with entities that would expect to have an editorial say in the final cut.

This documentary is a big undertaking and you can help make it happen. Financial Sponsorships are available to individuals and businesses able to sign an agreement without expectation of editorial control.

“Long-Haul Trucker” is produced by Raidian Productions. J.R. Hildebrand is the writer, director and executive producer. The Raidian team has a combined experience level of more than 100 years of film production. In addition to a lifetime of working in film, J.R. has invested16 months to driving 200,000 miles over the road. As a driver, he has been in the trenches and understands what has to be done with this documentary effort.
